JMC PERFORMER 2.0 10'6" #2/3 – TEST
Following an exceptionally prolific off-season for the French brand JMC, the tests keep coming in this spring 2026! After beginning our exploration of the new KULT series, let’s now move up to the next price bracket with the Performer 2.0 range, which follows in the footsteps of the Performer Infinity, starting with the highly anticipated 10'6" #2/3.

1. Measurement Analysis
1.1. Power
The Common Cents System protocol made it possible to characterise the power and action of this rod.
In terms of power, 26 cents were required to deflect this rod by one third of its length. After conversion, this gives an ERN of 2.82. The power therefore matches the stated #2/3 rating.
1.2. Action
In terms of action, as characterised by the Action Angle (AA), this rod has a moderate-fast action (AA between 63° and 66°).
1.3. Build
The build is well thought out for a rod designed for tight line nymphing: when fishing high-stick tight line, the fly line may form a belly above the grip if the first guide is positioned too far from your left hand. A distance of less than 40 cm from the grip is recommended to limit this effect, which is indeed the case here with 33 cm.
The other element of tight line nymph rods that we prioritise in our analysis is the grip/reel seat combination. Unlike its little sister, the Kult 10'6", this Performer 2.0 features an ideal configuration for fans of semi-automatic reels: although the uplocking reel seat used here does not provide perfect balance, it does allow the ring finger of the rod hand to remain on the trigger while fishing, which ensures maximum responsiveness when managing excess line. Also worth noting is the relatively slim grip diameter (22 mm), as usual with JMC.

In terms of finishing touches, this Performer 2.0 series features both a hook keeper and alignment dots on the sections.

1.4. Fishing Comfort
The fishing comfort of this rod is excellent. It rivals the most comfortable 10'6" rods on the market with a conventional reel seat and similar power, such as the Angefly Stratege or the Soldarini Tournament 10'6" #2/3.
To achieve perfect balance once loaded with a fine line such as a 0.55 mm level line, it is advisable to use an empty reel weighing around 130–140 g (a Yoto Nymph will be a perfect match!).

2. Editorial Verdict
After positioning itself in the €300–400 price range with the Kult series, JMC is now updating its iconic Performer rods, which become Performer 2.0, for a slightly higher budget. Unlike the Kult series, which covers the full range of “river trout” approaches, these Performer 2.0 rods focus on techniques derived from competition fishing, namely tight line nymphing and refined dry fly / sight nymphing approaches.
For fans of the brand, who are being particularly spoiled at the start of this year, let’s compare this Performer 2.0 with its little sister, the Kult, also rated as a 10'6" #2/3: our measurements show a real difference in power between the two (half a line size), which changes the picture somewhat in terms of their field of application, while the actions remain identical (moderate-fast). Obviously, the price difference is also reflected in a different level of responsiveness between these two models, but that is difficult to quantify objectively and therefore delicate for us to comment on.
The Performer 2.0 10'6" #2/3 is therefore somewhat more specialised for fine tight line nymphing (with ideal bead sizes between 2 and 3.5 mm) on small and medium-sized streams, targeting fish up to around forty centimetres. It is the very model of a competition-oriented tight line nymph rod, with a smooth bend free of hard spots (thanks to its moderate-fast action), ideal for reducing break-offs and lost fish when targeting modest-sized trout. There is no issue at all in going below 0.10 mm when it comes to tippet diameter.
Its build perfectly matches its intended use, and a Yoto Nymph suits it beautifully.
See you soon for a review of the other models!
