COTTARELLI STANDARD SHUTTLE REGO FLY TYING VISE

The STANDARD SHUTTLE REGO allows you to tie flies on hooks of virtually any size. The exceptional stability provided by the table clamp, combined with the outstanding versatility of the Shuttle Rego pliers, makes it an ideal choice for fly tyers who produce every type of pattern, from the smallest dry flies to large streamers.

STANDARD BASE

The STANDARD base features a table clamp that attaches directly to the tying bench, providing the highest level of stability of all the bases in the Cottarelli system. It is the ideal choice for fly tyers who want a vise that remains perfectly secure at all times, even during the most demanding tying work.

This base is particularly well suited to fly tyers with a dedicated tying station who do not need to transport their vise regularly to locations where a table clamp may not be suitable. The table clamp has a maximum opening of 6 cm.

ADJUSTMENTS

Like every vise in the Cottarelli system, the STANDARD base offers a wide range of adjustments, allowing you to position the hook exactly as you prefer for comfortable and precise fly tying.

An integrated Allen key allows you to make all the necessary adjustments using the dedicated screws.

Teflon washers on every locking screw prevent direct contact between the metal components, protecting them from wear over time while ensuring precise adjustments.

The Allen screw located on the upper section of the vise allows you to adjust its angle easily and precisely.

The STANDARD base offers a generous height adjustment range, reaching an overall height of approximately 28 cm. The distance from the tying bench can also be adjusted by approximately 11 cm.

The upper assembly of the STANDARD SHUTTLE REGO rotates freely through 360°. Its adjustable friction system allows the rotation to remain completely free, operate with controlled resistance or be locked entirely. The level of friction can be adjusted using the collar indicated by the arrow in the image below.

All manually operated surfaces feature a knurled finish, providing a secure grip and allowing quick, precise and effortless adjustments.

THE SHUTTLE REGO PLIERS

To begin tying, simply apply light pressure to the handles to open the pliers, then release them to secure the hook.

The clamping force is exceptionally high and can be adjusted using the dedicated Allen key. Turning it clockwise increases the preload on the jaws and therefore the clamping force, while turning it anticlockwise reduces it.

For small to medium-sized hooks, a lower clamping force is generally sufficient. For large streamer hooks, it is advisable to increase the pressure accordingly.

Thanks to their shape, wide opening and powerful grip, the Shuttle Rego pliers of the STANDARD SHUTTLE REGO can securely hold hooks of virtually any size, from the smallest dry-fly hooks to the largest streamer hooks.

Because of the high clamping force, it is important to position the hook correctly inside the jaws. Clamping the hook too close to the tips may cause the steel jaws to chip. This is not a manufacturing defect but a characteristic common to all fly tying vises fitted with steel jaws. When the vise is used correctly, this issue does not occur.

THE COTTARELLI SYSTEM

Cottarelli vises are built around a modular system in which all compatible components and accessories can be combined. The STANDARD base, just like the Travel and Alfa bases, can accommodate any head or pliers from the Cottarelli system.

The STANDARD SHUTTLE REGO includes the STANDARD base and the Shuttle Rego pliers.

PLEASE NOTE: The only exception is the Pocket vise, which uses dedicated jaws and is not compatible with the other accessories in the Cottarelli system.

ROBUST CONSTRUCTION

The STANDARD SHUTTLE REGO vise is manufactured from steel, brass and aluminium. Premium materials combined with careful craftsmanship down to the smallest detail result in a vise designed to last a lifetime and serve generations of fly tyers.

PADDED CARRY CASE

The STANDARD SHUTTLE REGO comes supplied with a practical padded carry case, ideal for safe transport, protecting the vise from impacts and scratches, and keeping it neatly stored when not in use.
