THE SHADOW FF FLY REEL
TOO VERSATILE FOR A PURE EURONYMPH FLY REEL
With the SHADOW FF, Sandro Soldarini presents a fly reel that is very interesting in terms of both price and versatility. The closed reel frame naturally makes it ideal for use in Euronymphing. This "reel cage" makes it impossible for the thin monofilament lines or the 0.55 mm Euronymph fly lines to accidentally jump over the edge of the spool and then wrap around the spool axis, which can lead to a blocked reel and, in the worst case, to a lost fish.
In addition to the smaller and lighter reel size #0/4, this reel is also available in a further size for line classes #3/5 and is therefore also ideal for all traditional fly-fishing applications with light lines such as fine fly fishing with dry flies, classic nymph fishing and fly fishing with light streamers.
The high-quality reel drag of the SHADOW FF is equipped with carbon brake discs, which means that it starts up very smoothly and offers consistent braking performance in all situations. The large, non-slip drag adjusting knob is easy to operate and allows you to set the braking force very precisely. With a drag adjusted to the load capacity of your rig, you can easily prevent unintentional line breakage. Please note that this reel drag is not completely sealed.
The medium-sized spool diameter of 40 or 45 mm does not completely prevent the line stored on the spool from getting a memory effect, but this compromise allows the spool to have a high capacity. However, you can compensate for the smaller spool diameter by using sufficient backing under your actual fly line.
The SHADOW FF fly reel is milled from a solid aluminium block using CNC technology and is therefore very light, but also very stable and robust. The reel is finished in an elegant and unobtrusive stealth metallic brown colour. The surface is anodised and therefore optimally protected against external influences.
It goes without saying that this fly reel can be quickly and easily converted from left-handed to right-handed operation.
