FLY LINE SPECIALIST COMPETITION ROLL CAST

FIRST-CLASS PERFORMANCE

The SPECIALIST COMPETITION ROLL CAST from Soldarini Fly Tackle is a fly line that has been tailor-made to meet the demands of modern Stillwater fly fishing. It was developed by Sandro Soldarini with the same meticulous attention to detail that characterises all of his equipment. That's why you can rely on its excellent performance, which will impress even the most demanding fly fishermen. It makes casting long distances and presenting the fly with precision a breeze, even in difficult conditions. The different models offer you the versatility you need to be successful in any situation when Stillwater fly fishing.

THE IDEAL FLY LINE FOR THE FROLLER CAST

The roll cast is an indispensable technique for fly fishing in lakes and ponds, especially in situations where conventional overhead casts are not possible due to a lack of space or obstacles. This fly line is perfectly matched to the Froller Cast – a slightly modified version of the classic roll cast that allows you to achieve enormous casting distances, especially on lakes and ponds, even when there is no room to do the back cast. You can find all the information about the Froller Cast in our blog post on successful fly fishing in Stillwater.

OPTIMISED LINE TAPER WITH VERY LONG HEAD

The total of 120 feet (about 36.5 m) long fly line has an 80-foot (about 24.4-metre) long head that allows you to cast long distances with little effort. The taper resembles a triangle taper with a graded, very long front taper of 58 feet (about 17.7 m) in total. The fine tapered tip of this fly line ensures good unrooling behaviour and thus clean presentation of the fly with straight leader. The length and the gradation of the front taper also shifts the centre of gravity of the fly line backwards. The combination with the comparatively short back taper of 22 feet (about 6.7m) makes this fly line perfect for effective roll casts, with which you can easily load the fly rod even with water-anchored casts and the casting impulse is perfectly transmitted. The transition between the head and the running line is marked by a clearly visible orange section of line on all models of this fly line. This area marks the optimal loading point and helps you to achieve the perfect cast.

VARIOUS VARIANTS FOR EVERY SITUATION

The SPECIALIST COMPETITION ROLL CAST is available in the line class #8-9, which, in combination with the roll cast or the froller, also fits fly rods of the class #7-8. With the different floating and sinking properties of the individual line variants, you have the right line for every situation on the water. While the Floating model is ideal when fish are actively feeding at the surface far from the shore, the Hover, Intermediate and Fast Intermediate models are three variants with finely tuned sinking speeds that allow you to present your flies at the desired depth at any retrieve speed that suites best the moment. This series also includes a pure sinking line with a sinking speed of 3 IPS (around 7.5 cm per second) for when the fish are deep.

To make it easier to distinguish between them, all the models have different colours, so you can see at a glance which fly line with which specific properties is on the spool. There are prefabricated loops on both line ends for quick and easy connection of backing or leader.
