MICRO PLUS HEAD FOR COTTARELLI FLY TYING VISES

A UNIQUE HOOK-CLAMPING SYSTEM

The MICRO PLUS HEAD, designed by Franco Cottarelli, uses a completely different hook-clamping system from conventional fly tying vise heads.

Instead of securing the hook by squeezing it between two jaws, the MICRO PLUS works by applying tension to the hook. This distinctive system provides an exceptionally secure hold with minimal effort.

By turning the aluminium knob, a slot opens at the tip of the head into which the hook is inserted. You then simply turn the knob in the opposite direction until the hook is firmly secured.

COMPATIBLE HOOK SIZES

The MICRO PLUS HEAD is suitable for hooks ranging approximately from #18 to #6. Size #6 should only be considered a guideline, as the actual limit is determined by the available space within the clamping slot. As long as a hook can be inserted correctly into the head, it can be securely held and used for tying.

ADJUSTMENTS

In addition to the 360° rotation around the main axis, the MICRO PLUS HEAD features three adjustable joints that provide virtually unlimited positioning options. This allows you to place the hook exactly where you want it and work in maximum comfort.

The special geometry of the head also allows the hook to be correctly aligned with the rotational axis, so that it can rotate perfectly around its own axis. This is particularly useful when wrapping certain materials, as you can hold them in position while rotating the hook in a controlled manner.

If the joint bolts are not overtightened, the head retains excellent stability while tying while still preserving its full range of movement. This allows you to adjust its position without having to repeatedly loosen and retighten the joints with a spanner.

To adjust the joint bolts, you can use the supplied 7 mm spanner.

THE COTTARELLI SYSTEM

Cottarelli fly tying vises are built around a modular system in which compatible components and accessories can be combined with one another. The MICRO PLUS HEAD can be mounted on the Travel base, the Standard base and the Alfa base.

PLEASE NOTE: The only exception is the Pocket vise, which uses its own dedicated heads and is not compatible with the other accessories in the Cottarelli range.

ROBUST CONSTRUCTION

The MICRO PLUS HEAD is manufactured from aluminium, steel and brass. The quality of the materials and its robust construction ensure reliability and long-lasting durability, even with intensive use at the tying bench.

ACCESSORIES

The Cottarelli system can be complemented with a wide range of accessories designed to adapt the vise to different tying requirements and make tying even the most complex fly patterns easier.

Accessories are not included and must be purchased separately.

Outstanding
I have been tying flies for 57 years had a few brands of buses but the Cottarelli Standard vise I purchased 4 years ago changed everything. It is well made very attractive and can except this head plus multiple others. We cannot purchase Cottarelli codes in the United States anymore so I started purchasing Cottarelli accessories from 1000flies. Thanks
