The HERO series fly reels will also impress you, both technically and aesthetically. Based on the design of the XO reels, the HERO fly reels also adopt the very attractive, filigree and airy spoke design. The advantages are obvious: less material means less weight and the generous cut-outs allow the fly line and backing to dry immediately.

However, the great design is certainly not the only reason for the great popularity of these fly reels. These reels also impress with their technical performance. They offer a powerful drag system in which a total of 5 carbon and stainless steel discs alternate, ensuring a silky-smooth start-up of the reel drag and reliable braking performance over the entire setting range.

As befits a modern fly reel, the models in the HERO series are also equipped with large arbour spools. This not only effectively prevents the fly line from curling when it is stored on the reel for long periods of time. The large inner diameter of the spool also ensures that you retrieve more line per crank revolution and can therefore spool up the loose line faster after a take and make direct contact with the fish sooner.

For all these great features, this fly reel is available at a really interesting price. The secret lies in the special manufacturing process. The spool and reel frame are die-cast and then CNC machined for finishing.

The HERO fly reels are suitable for both left-handed and right-handed operation. On fly reels sizes #3/5 to #7/9, the spool can be removed quickly and easily using the simple screw cap, while size #9/11 uses a waterproof and secure pop-out system. The reel knob is made of non-slip EVA. With the exception of the HERO DADDY #7/9 version, all models in this series come in a matt black colour.

THE INDIVIDUAL MODELS

HERO NYMPH & DRY #3/5: the smallest size in this reel series. It is suitable for classic fly fishing with dry flies and nymphs as well as for modern nymph fishing with mono lines or ultra-thin Euronymph fly lines. This is because the closed reel frame prevents these fine lines from getting between the spool and reel, where they can wrap around the reel axle and jam the reel. The spool of this model is deliberately kept a little narrower, so that the line is laid more evenly when retrieving.

HERO #4/6: the universal reel for classic trout and grayling fishing with dry flies, nymphs and streamers. The spool offers sufficient capacity for all line types of the specified classes as well as sufficient backing. The open reel frame of this model saves material and therefore unnecessary weight.

HERO #7/9: is the ideal fly reel for streamer fishing for pike and other large predators, fly fishing in Stillwater and can also be combined very well with switch rods. The open frame also keeps the weight of this model low. In this reel size we offer one model in matt black, as well as the identical model HERO DADDY #7/9 in a cypress green colour and yellow lettering.

HERO SALMON #9/11: the largest reel model in the HERO family. The design remains the same, but the drag system on this reel has been adapted to the tougher conditions of heavy fly fishing for large fish and designed accordingly. The basis is still a reel drag with alternating carbon and steel discs, but the drag system has been sealed so that it is optimally protected against dirt, dust and water. The closed reel frame of this model ensures high structural stability and prevents thin running lines from jumping over the edge of the spool and blocking the reel. The capacity is sufficient for all types of shooting heads, so you can use this reel with any two-handed rod.
