Fishing with the sabiki on the float rig is practical and catchy. However, due to the water depths, only running floats come into question. Correctly adjusting the line stopper on the main line is tedious, time-consuming and annoying. Moreover, it is quite possible that the line stopper will become misaligned over time when retrieving or casting. Additionally, the setting is only suitable for this one fishing spot. If you cast to other places or change the fishing spot, you have to repeat the entire procedure.
The ORIGINAL RENKENFINDER offers an ingenious solution to this problem. This innovative fishing float adjusts itself to the respective water depth. It makes use of the adhesion, i.e., the friction of the fishing line on the inside of the antenna of the float. This antenna is made of carbon fibre and is hollow on the inside. As long as the antenna is dry, the fishing line can be threaded without any problems. When reeling in, the water from the wet fishing line gets into the antenna. This causes the line to "stick" to the inside of the tube. When you start fishing, simply make a false cast: Cast your rig so that at least 10-15 metres of line slip through the ORIGINAL RENKENFINDER. Reel in immediately and the wet line will already stick to the inside of the antenna. It is good to know that the fishing line is not roughened, curled, or otherwise damaged by the adhesion.
The friction is strong enough for the ORIGINAL RENKENFINDER to right up itself. The sabiki rig is straightened up nicely and the float stays in place. However, this only works in combination with monofilament fishing lines. Braided lines generate too little friction. In addition, the lines should have a certain diameter. They should be between 0.18 mm and 0.25 mm thick. A soft fishing line such as Super Soft T-Force adheres better. The weight – ideally a lead-free weight - should be at least 25 grams. We have had the best experience with weights of 30 to 40 grams. These can be cast far and work in different conditions (wind, waves) on the water.
The float body of the ORIGINAL RENKENFINDER can be moved up and down on the antenna. This way you can adjust the float to the respective swell in the best possible way. The higher the swell, the further up you push the float body. If the swell is smaller, it is placed further down.
The relatively long antenna of this float also ensures a constant movement of the nymphs on the sabiki rig due to the swell. The "jumping" nymphs perfectly imitate the pupae of the twitchflies rising from the bottom.
Of course, the ORIGINAL RENKENFINDER also reliably indicates the bites. Depending on the species and size of the fish, the float starts to tremble, jump or is even pulled completely under water. So-called lifting bites are characteristic of the whitefish. After the bite, the whitefish often moves towards the water surface. In this case, the float simply falls over. A strike is usually not necessary. The ground weight and the buoyancy of the float create enough resistance for the fish to hook themselves. Especially the small, fine-wire hooks of the Sabiki nymphs penetrate easily.
The ORIGINAL RENKENFINDER is available in two different lengths of 50 and 80 cm. For both models the working principle remains the same. You can also choose between the signal colours fluo orange, fluo yellow or fluo green as well as the colour white, which provides very good contrast under certain lighting conditions.
