CCS SHORT GHOST CHENILLE

AIRY CHENILLE WITH FLEXIBLE FIBRES AND METALLIC REFLECTIONS

Hotfly's CCS SHORT GHOST CHENILLE combines exceptionally fine, flexible fibres with metallic flash fibres. The slightly stiffer flash fibres stand out from the body when tied in, giving the material a distinctive surface texture with additional light reflections.

Its lightweight, flat construction sets this chenille apart from conventional, densely structured materials. It allows you to build volume without necessarily creating a compact fly body. At the same time, the fine, flexible fibres produce a lively silhouette in the water.

FROM AIRY STREAMERS TO FULL, BUSHY FLY BODIES

CCS SHORT GHOST CHENILLE is particularly suitable for streamers with bulky, flexible bodies. When wrapping it around the hook shank, sweep the fibres backwards after each turn to prevent them from becoming trapped beneath subsequent wraps. This keeps the individual fibres free to move and allows the metallic flash fibres to stand out.

By adjusting the number and spacing of the wraps, you can control the body structure. A few loosely spaced turns create an airy, open silhouette, while closely spaced wraps produce a dense, bushy body.

The protruding fibres can also be used to imitate legs and antennae, particularly on caterpillar patterns and other insect imitations. The incorporated flash fibres add extra visual highlights without the need for separate flash materials.

CUSTOM CHENILLE SYSTEM – CREATE YOUR OWN COLOURS

CCS SHORT GHOST CHENILLE is part of Hotfly's Custom Chenille System (CCS). With the matching Fly Tying Marker Felt Pens, you can custom-colour the chenille permanently. This allows you to create numerous colour combinations for different fly patterns using just a few basic chenille variants.

The matching colour markers are available separately. Rather than buying the chenille in several ready-made colours, you can colour the material to suit your needs. This reduces the amount of material you need to keep in stock, saves money and gives you greater freedom when choosing the colours of your flies.
