CCS CHEWING GUM CHENILLE

ELASTIC CHENILLE WITH RUBBERY FIBRES FOR LIFELIKE FLY PATTERNS

Hotfly's CCS CHEWING GUM CHENILLE is a special chenille featuring short, elastic Spanflex strips incorporated into a compact core. These protrude from the sides, giving the material its characteristic rubbery texture. Unlike conventional chenilles, the protruding fibres are not only soft but also elastic, with a certain degree of resilience.

This creates fly bodies with a flexible, slightly yielding surface. Particularly on worm imitations, the protruding Spanflex strips add movement and create a distinctive silhouette in the water.

IDEAL FOR WORM IMITATIONS AND TEXTURED NYMPH BODIES

CCS CHEWING GUM CHENILLE was developed as an alternative to traditional Squirmy Wormy materials, whose use is restricted or prohibited on certain waters. Its elastic structure makes it particularly suitable for worm flies and other patterns featuring flexible body appendages.

When wrapped around the hook shank, the short Spanflex strips form numerous small, protruding appendages. These give worm imitations a lively, irregular body texture without having to tie in individual rubber legs. Thanks to their elasticity, the fibres respond to water movement while retaining a degree of shape and resilience.

The chenille is also useful for tying nymph bodies and thoraxes. Its compact core allows controlled, even wraps, while the protruding rubbery fibres add volume and an unusual surface texture. This makes it suitable for both eye-catching attractor patterns and distinctive nymph imitations.

CUSTOM CHENILLE SYSTEM – CREATE YOUR OWN COLOURS

CCS CHEWING GUM CHENILLE is part of Hotfly's Custom Chenille System (CCS). With the matching Fly Tying Marker Felt Pens, you can custom-colour the chenille permanently. This allows you to create numerous colour combinations for different fly patterns using just a few basic chenille variants.

The matching colour markers are available separately. Rather than buying the chenille in several ready-made colours, you can colour the material to suit your needs. This reduces the amount of material you need to keep in stock, saves money and gives you greater freedom when choosing the colours of your flies.
