LITECRAFT ICS ITALIAN CASTING STYLE FLY ROD BLANK

THE FOUNDATION FOR YOUR CUSTOM ITALIAN CASTING STYLE ROD

The LITECRAFT ICS ITALIAN CASTING STYLE FLY ROD BLANK from Hotfly was developed in close collaboration with the casting experts at S.I.M. (Scuola Italiana Pesca a Mosca) specifically for the Italian Casting Style. Its compact length, rapid line acceleration and precisely controllable action provide the foundation for a fly rod that handles light lines dynamically and presents the fly accurately at a variety of distances.

FAST, PROGRESSIVE ACTION

The blank has a fast action, but its flex is by no means limited to the tip. With shorter lengths of line, the upper section does most of the work. As the load increases, the middle and butt sections engage progressively. This allows the blank to load smoothly while combining high line speeds with precise control and reliable power reserves.

This refined action promotes tight loops and a straight, controlled path of the rod tip. At the same time, the blank retains enough flexibility during the fight to absorb sudden peaks in load and maintain control over stronger fish.

ACCURATE PRESENTATIONS AT DIFFERENT DISTANCES

At 7'6" (231 cm), the blank is particularly easy to handle in confined spaces and along densely vegetated banks. Its compact design does not, however, restrict it to short-range fishing. Combined with the Italian Casting Style, the fast action also enables controlled presentations at medium and longer distances.

This makes the blank well suited to complex waters, challenging currents and situations where wary fish must be approached with particular accuracy. In addition to the fundamental casting technique, its dynamic response also supports the various trick casts associated with the Italian Casting Style.

THREE-PIECE DESIGN WITH SPIGOT FERRULES

The blank consists of three sections joined by spigot ferrules. This construction promotes an even transfer of power between the individual sections and helps maintain a smooth, progressive flex profile. Its lightly sanded, unvarnished surface has a subtle matt black finish that reduces unwanted reflections.

BUILD YOUR FLY ROD TO SUIT YOUR PREFERENCES

Available separately, the blank allows you to customise both the performance and appearance of your fly rod. You can choose the grip and reel seat, the type and placement of the guides, the thread colours and decorative details. These choices influence the finished rod’s weight, balance and dynamic response. The three-piece blank is supplied without rod-building components.
