PRO SILK X-STRONG TYING THREAD

EXCEPTIONALLY STRONG, FINE AND FLAT

Hotfly PRO SILK X-STRONG is an exceptionally fine, high-strength Kevlar tying thread that combines a slim profile with excellent tensile strength. Rated at 50 denier / 12/0, its flat construction allows precise wraps without adding unnecessary bulk. This helps maintain the correct proportions of your fly patterns, even when multiple thread wraps are required.

Its high strength makes PRO SILK X-STRONG particularly suitable for streamers, nymphs and demanding tying techniques where considerable thread tension is needed to secure hair, fur bunches or synthetic fibres firmly in place. At the same time, the fine thread provides the control needed for clean, precise tying on smaller fly patterns.

FLAT WRAPS AND CLEANLY DEFINED FLY BODIES

When PRO SILK X-STRONG is kept flat during tying, its fibres spread evenly across the hook shank. This produces smooth, uniform thread foundations and slim fly bodies. The flat thread profile is especially useful when securing several materials in the same area, helping prevent excessive bulk and giving you greater control over the shape of the finished fly.

IDEAL FOR THE SPLIT-THREAD TECHNIQUE

Another advantage of PRO SILK X-STRONG is its suitability for the split-thread dubbing technique. By gently running the thread over your fingernail, you can separate its fibres and open a small gap. Insert dubbing, hair or other tying fibres into the split, then twist the thread to form a dubbing rope. This technique is particularly useful for creating thoraxes, collars and fuller body sections.

MULTIPLE COLOURS AND EXCELLENT DURABILITY

PRO SILK X-STRONG is available in a range of colours, allowing you to match the thread to your fly pattern or deliberately use a contrasting shade as a visible design feature.

Because Kevlar fibres are highly resistant to cutting, we recommend using a suitable cutter or sharp blade to trim the thread. This ensures a clean cut while protecting the delicate cutting edges of your fly-tying scissors.
