Fly fishing on ponds and lakes has become much more than a marginal phenomenon and the fly rods of the PERFORMER XD series were developed by JMC especially for these waters and adapted to this type of fishing. The abbreviation XD stands for "extra distance" and characterises the excellent properties of this fly rod series for long casts. Especially on still waters, the fly often has to be brought to the fish over long distances.
The PERFORMER XD rod series consists of 3 rods with a length of 10 foot (305 cm) for the line classes #6, #7 and #8. The matt brown blank is made of high modulus carbon fibre in combination with nano resins. The result is a medium-fast and responsive blank with an enormous power reserve in the butt section. This means that the rod can be charged very well during casting and the classic overhead cast at long distances is just as successful as the Froller cast, with which you can still achieve long casting distances on these waters even if the rear space is limited. Nevertheless, these fly rods are not rigid broomsticks, but have a comparatively fine and sensitive tip, which also indicates cautious bites and has the necessary damping properties when playing the fish, so that the fine tippet is not too heavily loaded even in wild escapes. This makes the PERFORMER XD rods very versatile in still water fishing and can be used for relatively fine presentations on floating lines as well as when fishing with heavy sinking lines.
The full wells shaped handle of the PERFORMER XD fly rods is made of the best cork and has rubberised protective edges at both ends. The uplock reel seat is made of milled aluminium, to which a fighting butt connects, also with rubberised finish. In order to let the fly line shoot well to achieve corresponding casting distances, rod rings with rather large diameters have been mounted, whereby the lowest two are Fuji K guide rings, the rest are single leg running guides.
The PERFORMER XD fly rods are all 4-piece and are supplied in a practical Cordura rod tube with internal compartments.
