LOON OUTDOORS
FISHING WITH A CONSCIENCE
Loon Outdoors, founded in 1991 by Alan Peterson in the picturesque town of Ashland, Oregon, has grown over the years to become a force to be reckoned with in the fly-fishing industry. Peterson's deep connection to the outdoors and his passion for fly fishing laid the foundation for a company that has been dedicated to developing environmentally friendly, high-performance products from the beginning. As a fly fisherman, he recognised the need not only to improve the experience on the water, but also to preserve the nature that makes these experiences possible. It is therefore not surprising that he chose ‘Fishing with a conscience’ as the claim for his company. Moreover, the company goes one step further and, as a member of the 1% for the Planet movement, donates a portion of its sales directly to charitable organisations that are passionate about their local community.
At the centre of Loon Outdoors‘ product portfolio are the fly care products, in particular the Aquel and Lochsa floatants. Aquel has long been a classic among fly fishermen, as its waterproof, silicone-based formula maximises the buoyancy of dry flies - in all conditions, hot or cold. But Aquel is not only characterised by its effectiveness: It's non-toxic and biodegradable, making it one of the most environmentally friendly options on the market. Lochsa, another Loon masterpiece, offers fly fishers a universal solution that works equally well on synthetic and natural materials and leaves no irritating residue.
But Loon Outdoors thinks further: in addition to floatants, the company has also developed environmentally friendly sinking agents that ensure that wet flies and nymphs, as well as sinking lines, sink efficiently without damaging sensitive aquatic ecosystems. These products have been developed to maintain a balance between performance and environmental protection - staying true to the principle that Loon has been committed to since its inception.
Another area where Loon Outdoors has set the standard is in fly line care. With products such as Line Speed and Streamline, fly fishermen can ensure that their lines always remain in optimum condition. Line Speed cleans and maintains the lines so that they remain supple and retain their floating properties. Streamline, on the other hand, removes stubborn dirt and debris, resulting in longer, more accurate casts - a crucial advantage when it comes to making the perfect cast. Like all Loon products, these are environmentally friendly and leave no harmful traces in the water.
For 3 decades now, Loon Outdoors has been setting new standards by combining quality with sustainability. The continuous development of the products shows that the company not only focusses on innovation, but also on responsibility. For fly fishermen all over the world, Loon Outdoors' environmentally friendly floatants, sinking aids and care products have become indispensable - not only because of their performance, but also because of their contribution to protecting the nature that makes this hobby so unique.
