LMF MAC2 FLY RODS

REACTIVITY AND PRECISION WITHOUT COMPROMISE

The MAC2 fly rod series from Loomis&Franklin was developed in close cooperation with Massimo Magliocco, one of the most influential figures in the Italian fly casting and fly fishing scene. With more than four decades of experience in fly fishing and casting, as founder and former president of FFM – Casting Italia, and as author of numerous instructional works on Italian casting techniques, Magliocco stands for uncompromising control, precision, and efficiency.

After extensive development phases, studies, and field testing, a rod series was created that combines high reactivity, fast recovery, and exceptionally clean power transfer. Premium materials ensure that the rods feel extremely precise during the cast while remaining controlled, stable, and pleasant even when fighting strong fish.

Visually, the MAC2 rods feature an elegant matte black finish that skillfully combines understatement with technical performance. For added peace of mind, each rod is delivered with an additional spare tip section, integrated directly into the rod tube – a thoughtful solution to minimize downtime in case of accidental breakage.

DESIGNED FOR ITALIAN CASTING STYLE AND VERSATILE USE

The MAC2 series consists of three distinct models, each precisely tuned for different applications. The two shorter versions are clearly aimed at anglers practicing the Italian Casting Style (ICS). The core principle of this technique is absolute control throughout every phase of the cast, allowing the fly to be presented exactly where intended – ideally touching the water before the line.

High line speed, controlled movements of the casting arm, and a straight-line tip path create tight loops and a very direct casting feel. Combined with a casting plane precisely aligned toward the target, this results in exceptional casting control. The two shorter MAC2 models are consistently designed around this highly precise and efficient casting style.

The longer model in the series is designed as a versatile all-round fly rod, offering excellent control, adaptability, and classic performance across a wide range of fishing situations.

HIGH-QUALITY COMPONENTS DOWN TO THE LAST DETAIL

All models are equipped with Sea Guide stripping guide and single-leg running guides. Their PVD coating provides exceptional resistance to abrasion and corrosion – even in saltwater environments. All rods in the series feature AAA-grade cork grips, ensuring secure handling and a comfortable grip.

The MAC2 rods are supplied in a robust rod tube with a triangular cross-section to prevent rolling. Inside, practical compartments allow for quick, safe removal and storage of the individual rod sections.

Models at a glance:

7’6” – 3-piece – Line class #3
Short cigar grip and reel seat with premium wood spacer and hidden locking mechanism, supporting the typical ICS grip position. Ideal for maximum precision in technical, highly structured waters.
7’6” – 4-piece – Line class #4
Short cigar grip and reel seat with premium wood spacer and hidden locking mechanism, supporting the typical ICS grip position. A more powerful, compact version for anglers seeking greater versatility and easy transport.
9’0” – 4-piece – Line class #4/5
Half Wells grip with protective rubber cork ends on both sides and an uplocking reel seat. Designed for anglers who appreciate classic fly rods offering high control and adaptability in a wide range of fishing situations.

CONCLUSION

The LMF MAC2 fly rods combine modern materials, high reactivity, and a clearly defined action for precise fly fishing. Whether in technically demanding close-range scenarios or versatile all-round use, these rods deliver control, feedback, and confidence in every situation.
