Smooth leaders are easier to cast & more inconspicuous
Leader straighteners mainly serve two purposes: removing memory from your leader material and cleaning your fly line. Some tools combine both functions, while others are designed specifically for only one of these tasks. In our fly-fishing shop you will find both types. The section used for straightening leaders is usually made from smooth and firm materials such as leather or rubber, allowing coils and memory to be removed effectively. The part designed for cleaning fly lines is made from softer and more absorbent materials. A properly cleaned fly line shoots more smoothly through the guides, improves casting distance and enhances flotation performance. Leader straighteners are therefore small but extremely useful accessories that belong in every fly angler’s gear collection.
