GUIDELINE TROPICAL WF FLOATING FLY LINE

The Guideline TROPICAL WF Floating is a fly line specifically developed for tropical conditions and saltwater fly fishing. It is designed for anglers targeting powerful species such as bonefish, permit, tarpon or GT in warm climates, where a line must perform reliably in heat, wind and when casting large flies.

The powerful, universal taper ensures quick line loading, excellent casting stability and precise presentations. At the same time, the line remains easy to control – a crucial advantage when fast shots at suddenly appearing fish are required.

DESIGNED FOR HEAT, SALT AND TOUGH CONDITIONS

Tropical saltwater environments place special demands on the materials and construction of a fly line. The TROPICAL WF therefore features a specially developed hard tropical PVC coating that maintains its stability even at high temperatures. This keeps the line stiff enough for precise casting and prevents it from becoming overly soft or sticky in hot conditions.

At the same time, the coating is highly resistant to abrasion from sand and salt, which is especially important when wading the flats or fishing from a boat. Despite its toughness, the surface remains smooth and allows clean line shooting and consistent handling.

POWERFUL TAPER FOR WIND AND LARGE FLIES

The universal taper design of the TROPICAL WF has been developed specifically for the demands of tropical fly fishing. A high-energy front taper ensures that even larger flies turn over cleanly and with authority – even in strong winds.

The evenly structured belly provides efficient energy transfer throughout the entire cast. This is supported by an approximately 4 m back taper, which adds extra stability when carrying longer lengths of line in the air. As a result, the line remains very controllable even at distance.

The result is a fly line that enables both fast reaction casts at short range and controlled presentations at medium to longer distances – a key characteristic when sight fishing on tropical flats.

LOW STRETCH & DIRECT CONTACT

Inside the line is a braided low-stretch core that provides very direct feedback. Even at longer distances, contact with the fly remains precise, which is beneficial both when stripping and when setting the hook.

Depending on the line weight, the core strength is rated at 32 lb (#7–#9) or 50 lb (#10–#12). This makes the TROPICAL WF well suited for powerful fish in demanding saltwater environments.

SUBTLE COLOR FOR BETTER STEALTH

The entire line comes in a subtle Pale Sand color. This shade is particularly unobtrusive on tropical flats and helps reduce the risk of spooking fish, while still remaining visible enough for effective line management and distance control.

LINE WEIGHTS FOR DIFFERENT TROPICAL TARGET SPECIES

The TROPICAL WF is available in line weights from #7 to #12, covering a wide range of tropical target species.

#7 – #8: Ideal for precise presentations to bonefish, snook or smaller jacks. These lines load quickly, generate tight loops and offer excellent control at short to medium distances.

#9 – #10: The versatile all-round sizes for many tropical situations. Perfect for permit, baby tarpon, redfish and similar species where both power and accuracy are required.

#11 – #12: Designed for large flies and maximum lifting power. These lines are ideal for large tarpon, GTs and other powerful predators, where fast pickups and powerful casts are essential.
