SMOOTH CASTS THAT STRETCH PERFECTLY THE WHOLE TIPPET
The POLYLEADER PRO from Hotfly are a total of 8 feet (244 cm) long and are made from a soft monofilament core. They are covered with a special, conical coating made of polymer material that is also very soft. These particularly soft polyleaders roll off nicely on the cast and stretch the tippet all the way to the fly. It also tends to curl much less. Before use, you should stretch the polyleader with your hand. This gives it the best effect.
The coating gives the individual variants of the polyleader their floating or sinking properties. The tip area of the polyleader, instead, is not coated. This means that the transparent monofilament core remains beautifully inconspicuous. To be optimally equipped for all possible situations on the water, you will find the polyleader in 4 different versions:
- floating (completely transparent)
- intermediate (whitish transparent)
- sinking 4 ips (rust red)
- fast sinking 6 ips (black)
In the floating version of the polyleader is factory-provided with a special floatant. This further increases the buoyancy.
Ideally, you always combine polyleaders and fly lines with similar properties. So, a floating polyleader goes with a floating fly line, a slowly sinking polyleader with a slowly sinking fly line, and so on. But even here from time to time applies "know the rules, break the rules". For special rigs and fly presentations techniques, especially in Stillwater fly fishing, other combinations also make sense.
On both sides of the polyleader you will find a practical loop. This allows both the fly line and the tippet to be looped in quickly and easily as well as changed if necessary.
