MAGIC PLUS HEAD FOR COTTARELLI FLY TYING VISES

A UNIVERSAL HEAD FOR HOOKS OF VIRTUALLY ANY SIZE

The MAGIC PLUS HEAD, designed by Franco Cottarelli, is an exceptionally versatile head developed to let you tie artificial flies on hooks of widely varying sizes without having to change the head.

The special geometry of the jaws allows the clamping system to adapt to the size of the hook: from small trout dry flies to large pike streamers, the MAGIC PLUS always provides a suitable clamping point and excellent stability while tying.

A CLAMPING SYSTEM FOR EVERY HOOK

SMALL HOOKS

Small hooks are secured directly at the tips of the jaws, where they can be clamped easily and precisely while leaving sufficient room to work on the fly.

MEDIUM-SIZED HOOKS

For medium-sized hooks, a dedicated recess inside the jaws provides an effective and secure clamping point, ensuring excellent stability while tying.

LARGE HOOKS

Large hooks are positioned towards the rear of the jaws, where two additional steel plates create a double contact point on the bend of the hook.

This design provides an exceptionally secure hold without requiring excessive jaw pressure, reducing the risk of damaging large hooks, which can often be particularly expensive.

SIMPLE AND PRECISE CLAMPING

The jaws are opened and closed using the gold-coloured adjustment wheel. Only minimal force is required to secure the hook firmly, making the system both simple and precise to use.

The wheel is fitted with two silicone rings that provide excellent grip for your fingers and allow the clamping pressure to be adjusted in a controlled way, even during particularly precise tying work.

ADJUSTMENTS

In addition to the 360° rotation around the main axis, the MAGIC PLUS HEAD features two adjustable joints that provide virtually unlimited positioning options. This allows you to place the hook exactly where you want it and work in maximum comfort.

The special geometry of the head also allows the hook to be correctly aligned with the rotational axis, so that it can rotate perfectly around its own axis. This is particularly useful when wrapping certain materials: you can hold the material in the desired position while rotating the hook in a controlled manner.

If the joint bolts are not overtightened, the head retains excellent stability while tying while still preserving its full range of movement. This allows you to adjust its position without having to repeatedly loosen and retighten the joints with a spanner.

To adjust the joint bolts, you can use the supplied 7 mm spanner.

THE COTTARELLI SYSTEM

Cottarelli fly tying vises are built around a modular system in which compatible components and accessories can be combined with one another. The MAGIC PLUS HEAD can be mounted on the Travel base, the Standard base and the Alfa base.

PLEASE NOTE: The only exception is the Pocket vise, which uses its own dedicated heads and is not compatible with the other accessories in the Cottarelli range.

ROBUST CONSTRUCTION

The MAGIC PLUS HEAD is manufactured from hardened steel and brass. The quality of the materials and its robust construction ensure reliability, precision and long-lasting durability, even with intensive use at the tying bench.

ACCESSORIES

The Cottarelli system can be complemented with a wide range of accessories designed to adapt the vise to different tying requirements and make tying even the most complex fly patterns easier.

Accessories are not included and must be purchased separately.
