A NEW ERA OF SUSTAINABLE FLY REELS
Guideline is serious about its "clean all the way" philosophy and presents the NOVA, a fly reel that uses environmentally friendly and recycled raw materials and rigorously dispenses with single-use plastic, even in the smallest components. It thus embodies the company's own vision of significantly reducing the environmental impact of us anglers through sustainable products.
In order to realise a fly reel with these aspirations, the most extensive product design study in the company's history was carried out under the direction of the renowned British designer Paul Richardson. The result is a fly reel that is not only the most environmentally conscious fly reel Guideline has ever built. It also sets new benchmarks and standards in the fishing industry as a whole, both in terms of the use of materials, the optimisation of components and, last but not least, the design.
THE NOVA ALSO KNOWS HOW TO CONVINCE TECHNICALLY
The NOVA fly reel is not only a sustainably manufactured product, but also a first-class fly reel with impressive performance features. All components on the reel made of single-use plastic have been replaced by components made of high-quality alloys, which has improved both the performance and the strength of this fly reel. The key interfaces between fly reel and angler, such as the new reel handle or the specially designed spool nut, convey a completely new feel and a real sense of quality.
The consistent new development does not stop at the carbon drag system of this fly reel either, as some improvements have also been made here to offer you optimum performance and a braking force adapted to each of the available reel sizes. The rear drag plate attachment has been redesigned to make the reel drag even more stable. In addition, the new wave springs guarantee a more even braking pressure during the most intensive phases of the fight, so that you can rely 100% on the drag system of this fly reel even in the most critical moments.
UNIQUE DESIGN THAT UNTIL RECENTLY WAS CONSIDERED IMPOSSIBLE
Despite these numerous improvements, the enhanced components did not increase the overall weight of the reel. The new and unique contemporary Scandinavian design, in which geometric, linear grid structures dominate all components, not only impresses with its simple elegance and uncompromising function, but also helps to keep the weight of the reel within the target specifications. At the same time, the structural integrity is increased. The counterweights required for absolutely smooth and impact-free running have been incorporated directly into the new spool structure, not least to minimise the number of additional components required. Naturally, the design of the reel also benefits from these ingenious and optimised production processes. The NOVA also sets new standards in this respect, as the production of a fly reel with such filigree, linear and geometric shapes is not feasible using conventional CNC manufacturing.
The NOVA fly reel has a slightly matt light grey "stardust" anodised surface finish, a closed reel frame, a spool in a large-arbor design and is available in three different sizes: #4/6 - #7/9 - #8/10. Of course, you can also find the matching spare spools for all 3 models here.
CLEAN ALL THE WAY
The NOVA impressively demonstrates how innovative industrial design can lead to the realisation of environmentally conscious products in the fishing tackle sector. Just how comprehensive the efforts are to fulfil the company's own "clean all the way" philosophy in every respect can be seen in two small details: even the reel bag and packaging are deliberately made from recycled materials.
This fly reel has nothing to hide from other high-end fly reels in terms of technology, let alone aesthetics.
