To avoid slack line when guiding your nymphs with the European Nymphing technique and to be able to maintain direct contact throughout, there are basically two options: Either you fish with extra-long monofilament leaders, which practically replace the actual fly line, or you use very fine, extremely thin and therefore extremely light fly lines with diameters of around 0.55 mm in combination with a matching leader.

It has been developed and tuned based on the experience and constant innovation in the international competition scene, where European Nymphing is constantly being raised to new levels of perfection.
The EURONYMPH COMPETITION leader is already matched to the three most common rod lengths for European Nymphing and consists of a main line that is only 0.20 mm thin, has no memory effect and is highly visible in almost all light conditions thanks to its red colouring. Connected to this, with the help of a blood knot, is an approx. 60 cm long, special two-colour indicator line, to the front end of which a fine and extremely smooth micro ring with a diameter of only 2 mm is attached. All you have to do is attach your tippet and nymphs to the ring and you're ready to go.
The EURONYMPH COMPETITION Leader + indicator line is mainly used for fishing in smaller head waters, where absolute control of the drift and sensitivity is much more important than casting far to reach the fish. The fine diameter of this leader allows you to place with pinpoint accuracy even very small and light nymphs with the typical oval casting motion. The leader is fished by pulling 10-20 cm of your fly line off the reel and clamping it to the handle with the index finger of your rod hand. Depending on the type of leader and the tippet length you choose, you can reach around seven to eight metres with a stretched rod and leader, which is more than enough for most spots. If you still need a little more, you can fall back on your fly line. The harmonized ratio of rod and leader length makes controlling the drift of your nymphs by guiding your rod correctly a breeze.
