THIS WADING STAFF PROVIDES SAFETY AND COMFORT

The wading staff from Hotfly is 142 cm long and made entirely of aluminium. This makes it very lightweight (only 349 g) so it won’t add unnecessary weight to your gear. At the same time, it is very robust and durable, allowing you to fully rely on it even in places where strong currents or a slippery bottom make crossing more challenging.

PRACTICAL IN USE, COMPACT IN TRANSPORT

This wading staff is also very convenient to transport, not only because of its low weight, but also because it can be split into several sections and folded down to a compact size. Thanks to the included practical neoprene pouch, it is easy to store and always within reach. You can attach the pouch to the belt of your waders using the special loop, and you will hardly notice that you are carrying a wading staff at all.

Once removed from its neoprene pouch, the staff can be unfolded with a simple movement and locked in place, making it ready to use in less than 3 seconds. When you no longer need it, you can fold it back just as easily. Or you can simply let it hang until the next use, as it can be attached with the included carabiner to a 50 cm elastic cord on the transport pouch. This allows you to focus entirely on fishing at the spot and pick it up again only when you move.

We have extensively tested this wading staff on various waters and used it to cross several tricky spots. It has proven to be a reliable companion, giving you an extra level of safety. This is also thanks to the non-slip handle and the hand strap, which ensure a secure grip even under demanding conditions.

DIFFERENT TIPS FOR DIFFERENT TERRAIN

To ensure you are prepared for all situations, this wading staff comes with different tip options: The main tip is made of hard tungsten, offering excellent grip when wading on rocky bottoms, especially those covered in algae. A plastic cap can be placed over it to make use on challenging terrain more comfortable, for example when you are walking along the bank and need stability on uneven ground. Additionally, a wide basket can be screwed onto a thread near the tip. Thanks to its broad, circular surface, the staff does not sink as easily or as deeply into sandy or muddy bottom compared to using only a narrow tip.

GUIDELINES FOR THE SAFE USE OF YOUR WADING STAFF

This wading staff provides extra safety in the water and helps you better assess water depth and bottom conditions. It is designed as a supportive aid – not to carry your full body weight or to move stones or other heavy objects.

Make sure that the lock is properly adjusted and securely fastened so the staff does not give way when you apply pressure from above. Check that all segments click firmly into place and that the internal cord keeps the joints tight.

Before each use, a quick safety check is worthwhile: If you notice cracks or damage, do not use the wading staff. Attach it to a safety cord or a sturdy retractor – and always wear a wading belt.
