SUPER CATCHY SPINFLY PATTERNS

Fish the best fly patterns with your conventional spinning gear

There's no question that artificial flies are some of the best fishing lures around. In many situations on the water, you can be extremely successful with a good fly pattern. To make these top lures accessible to all anglers, we have a whole range of special Spinfly patterns that are easy to cast and fish with your conventional spinning gear. Here you'll find super-realistic floating Spinflies that have excellent buoyancy and provide spectacular takes on the water's surface. With our sinking Spinfly variants, you can systematically search pools and deep rinners. Whether it's a nymph, squirmy wormy or propeller fly, our Spinfly models are deadly patterns in flowing water but also on overfished trout ponds where the fish already know every other lure by its first name. Try it out today and see how catchy our spinflies can be when fished on your conventional rod.

SPINFLY FLIES – DRY FLIES DESIGNED FOR SPINNING TACKLE

Spinfly brings together two worlds that were once considered difficult to combine: the natural presentation of a dry fly and the simplicity of casting with a light spinning rod. Developed for anglers who want to fish with insect imitations without using a conventional fly rod, this technique offers an effective alternative on small rivers and streams whenever trout are actively feeding from the surface.

The term Spinfly was coined by the Italian angler Roberto Cazzola, who first introduced the concept to a wider audience in 2010. His idea was to develop dry flies that could be cast efficiently with modern ultralight spinning tackle while still retaining the natural behaviour and delicate presentation of a floating fly.

WHY CONVENTIONAL DRY FLIES DON'T WORK WITH A SPINNING ROD

Traditional dry flies are almost weightless. In fly fishing, it is the fly line that carries the fly during the cast, while the fly simply follows the line. A spinning rod works on an entirely different principle. Without sufficient weight, even the most carefully tied dry fly cannot be cast accurately or over any practical distance.

HOW SPINFLY FLIES WORK

Spinfly flies are specifically designed to overcome this limitation. Their construction combines buoyant materials, such as foam and other floating components, with carefully balanced internal weighting. This creates the ideal compromise between casting weight and buoyancy. The result is a fly that lands naturally on the surface, maintains a realistic silhouette and can still be cast efficiently with light spinning equipment.

WHEN INSECTS ARE ON THE MENU

Many conventional spinning lures primarily trigger a fish's territorial or predatory instincts. Spinfly flies, by contrast, imitate part of a trout's natural diet. During insect hatches or when terrestrial insects are regularly blown onto the water, trout often become highly selective and focus on prey drifting on the surface. These are precisely the conditions in which Spinfly excels, allowing an exceptionally natural presentation with spinning tackle.

A TECHNIQUE OF ITS OWN – NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR FLY FISHING

Important: The Spinfly flies in this category have been developed specifically for use with a light spinning rod. They are not intended to replace traditional dry flies for fly fishing. Both techniques rely on fundamentally different casting methods and should be seen as complementary approaches rather than alternatives to one another.

CAREFULLY DEVELOPED AND TIED TO A HIGH STANDARD

Our Spinfly flies combine the key characteristics of natural insects with a construction specifically developed for this unique fishing technique. Premium materials, high-quality barbless hooks and carefully balanced proportions ensure that every fly floats reliably, casts cleanly and retains its natural appearance and behaviour on the water.
