Vision's ATOM wading boot is ideal if you have to do a lot of walking, because thanks to its light weight just over 550 grams it won't tire you out even in the longest fishing sessions and you can cover many kilometres without even realising you're wearing it.
The rubber sole does not have optimal grip, especially on wet rocks. For this reason, we advise against using it on its own and recommend you to fit up this wading boot with matching spikes, which can be purchased separately.
The midsole in contact with the foot is made of EVA. This material is extremely light and has three main functions:
- it cushions shocks well
- it has excellent thermal insulation
- it has a low water absorption index
The above-mentioned aspects contribute greatly to improved comfort, because you will be able to walk comfortably even on uneven ground, while protecting your foot from the cold. Moreover, as it does not absorb water, it does not gain weight, which keeps the wading light even when wet.
The upper fabric is thin and soft, while the upper edge in contact with the ankle is padded and very comfortable when walking. On the back of the boot there is a fabric loop that serves both to hang the boot up, for example to let it dry, and to grip it when you need to put it on to make it easier to fit.
One of the most stressed areas in a wading boot is definitely the toe, as you mostly hit rocks and various other obstacles mainly with this front area of your boot, especially when wading. For this reason, PVC has been used in its construction, a very solid and robust material that can withstand even hard impacts without breaking, thus preserving the integrity of the boot itself.
This wading boot is designed for moderate use on terrain that is not too complex. Being careful not to stress it too intensively, we can say that the ATOM has a good durability and for the very low price at which Vision offers it, it is definitely worth it.
