Flies with Terenzio frame, also called Terenzio's Loom Woven Flies, are the strangest flies on our site. They are produced in Italy by hand by Gianluca Fusari according to the philosophy of inventor Zandri Terenzio. Especially flies with a frame composed of a dry fly and an emerging fly one are a spectacle (scroll down). Below is a text by Zandri:

I am a fly tier for many years - more than 35. These flies have many peculiarities and advantages: they have a movable hook placed under the hackles. It means that the weight is distributed below these, which allows the fly to be floating, to have the best features in this field and not to have imbalances like those built with traditional techniques - so the hackles support the hook.

This joint of the hook makes the fly and the latter are almost two bodies settling, managing to adapt perfectly to the currents of the river. The hook positioned in that specific and movable point, can facilitate the movements and attachment to the mouth of the trout.

I managed, thanks to my construction method, to make the artificial fly obviously better, I would say, naturalistic, imitating nature in detail, in fact I pay attention to the colors and materials with which I build it. For me the fly is almost a work of art, you must have an artistic streak to reproduce it in an appreciable way.

The idea of my fly was born many years ago, when fishing in the Volturno river, with my father and my friend Carmelo Cutri, the latter observed that the trout bubbled under the cast connector and also under the knots of the finals. The mentality of the time, which included both me, Carmelo, and my father, was to want to catch the most fish to take home, something inconceivable in our day. So we thought that if we placed the fish hook under the connecto cast, we would have a lot more possibilities, and in fact it was!

The cast connector, called grain of rice in the common language of fishermen, and the knots of the finals were fundamental to me and to giving life to the flies I tier today. Obviously I dedicated myself to the growth and evolution of this fly.

The hook placed below gives many advantages to the fly thanks to the materials used to tier it, it can be remarkably floating. I invented my own method of construction, in fact I use a horizontal wooden frame that allows me to have this type of final product. This frame can recall the one used to fix the locks of the hair to make wigs. Precisely from this field, then that of hairstyles, I learned interesting notions, which have been useful for me to study the weaving of my flies.

I have always dedicated myself to the study of silk tails and also flies on frame. These studies and insights have led me today to have excellent results in both fields that will increasingly change and improve, because the idea of innovation and renewal never leave me.

I am proud to have unveiled my method of construction, about twenty years ago, to a dear friend of mine, obviously a fly fisherman, who has understood and made his every advice and teaching from me pronounced. His name is Gianluca Fusari. I must admit that she really applied himself to learning from me. Since he loves this discipline, fly fishing, and very humbly managed to become an incredible heir to my flies constructed on the loom.
