Targeting large pike with the fly is certainly one of the most exciting facets of fly fishing. When a trophy sized pike inhales the streamer just in front of you and takes off like a rocket, your heart is in your mouth. The PIKEMANIAC fly line was specially developed for fly fishing for pike, as it is ideal for casting large, bushy and therefore wind-catching flies over long distances. The 12-metre-long head of this fly line has a so-called reverse compound taper with a short, compact and strong front taper and a long back taper. With the line weight shifted towards the tip of the line, large pike streamers can still be cast well even in headwinds. This fly line has a 4-metre-long handling line between the taper and the thin running line, which creates a smoother transition and simplifies handling when casting, which is a particular advantage long lines and large flies.
The PIKEMANIAC has a new, super-slick coating so that friction is minimised and the line shoots smoothly through the rod guides. The line core is braided and therefore very low-stretch, so that the casting energy is transmitted undamped and you not only feel every tug on your streamers, but can also set the hook very directly, which is an advantage with the hard mouth of the pike. The soft coating minimises the memory effect and remains supple even at low temperatures. The factory-fitted line loops make it easy to attach backing and leader. The line weight and the floating resp. sinking behaviour of the respective model are printed on the front loop. The PIKEMANIAC fly line is PVC and phthalate-free.
The sinking versions of the PIKEMANIAC make use of the Sliding Density™ concept, in which the density and therefore also the sink rate increases continuously towards the tip of the line. In this way, the tip sinks the fastest, preventing a U-shaped line sag when sinking and ensuring better contact with the fly.
