Of course, you don't deliberately grease your flies and leader when nymph fishing but when mounting your rig and attaching your fly, sun cream, sweat and other substances on your fingers will inevitably come on the fly and line and will prevent them from sinking efficiently. Simply take a drop of this product on your index finger and thumb and work it into the fly or pull the leader and tippet through your fingers.
When fly fishing with a dry fly, many fly fishermen also degrease the last few centimetres of the tippet so that it sinks in slightly and is less visible than if it remains on the surface of the water, where it glistens in the sun and can cast telltale shadows.
