FLY TYING VARNISHES, GLUES & WAXES
Glue, fix and colour in your artificial flies
The FLY TYING MARKER FELT PEN by hotfly is a waterproof permanent marker for colouring natural and artificial fly-tying materials. The alcohol-based paint used is low-odour, light-resistant, dries quickly and does not smudge. The combination of FLY TYING MARKER FELT PEN and the basic chenille from the Custom Chenille System is ideal. The two different tips of the marker make application easier.
The UV resin X-STRONG by hotfly is available in both transparent and coloured versions. The clear version of this resin is ideal for sealing the bodies of your artificial flies and making them more durable. With the coloured versions you can also add colour to your imitations in the same process, for example if you want to create hotspots on Perdigon nymphs or realise streamer heads and the like. The UV resin X-STRONG forms an extremely hard and very durable coating in just a few moments as soon as you irradiate it with a UV lamp and thus cure it. The brush integrated in the cap makes it easy to apply the resin. With its rather fluid consistency, it is also easy to apply in precise doses. If you want to make thicker applications, we recommend that you apply the UV resin X-STRONG in several layers and cure each layer separately. To achieve a homogeneous colouring, shake the resin well before use.
GLUVAR varnish from hotfly is semi-transparent and can be used both as a varnish and as a glue. It is water-resistant and does not damage the material underneath. It dries quickly and becomes hard and glassy when dry. The consistency of the varnish is quite liquid, but it can be made even more liquid by adding a bit of diluent (not included). Very suitable for closing knots and heads. It is advisable to keep the cans tightly closed, away from sunlight and heat sources.
GLUVAR MEDIUM premium lacquer from hotfly can be used both as a varnish and as a glue. Its consistency is medium, but you can easily make it more liquid by adding a little thinner (not included). With this lacquer you can easily seal the closure knot, or you can apply it on the back of your quill dry flies or on any synthetic material to make your artificial fly shiny and stronger. Incorporated into the cap is a practical applicator pin. We recommend storing the cans tightly closed, away from sunlight and heat sources.
GLUVAR THICK is the thickest of the hotfly lacquers and is therefore very easy to apply, thanks also to the practical applicator pin incorporated in the cap. It is mainly used to coat the bodies of chironomas, nymphs and perdigons. The final finish is glossy and does not dull even when exposed to sunlight. Once dry it becomes very hard and will make your artificial flies really durable. You can make the consistency more liquid by adding a little thinner (not included). The drying time is about 15 minutes but if you want to get the best result from GLUVAR THICK you should apply a second coat and let it dry for at least an hour. It is advisable to keep the cans tightly closed, away from sunlight and heat sources.
The UV resin X-STRONG UV REFLECTING by hotfly is a transparent resin that reflects the incident UV light very well. This is particularly interesting because fish can perceive a broader spectrum of light than humans and can also see in the ultraviolet range. So, with the UV resin X-STRONG UV REFLECTING you can not only seal the bodies of your artificial flies and make them more durable. At the same time, you make them more visible to the fish and increase the chance of a bite. The UV resin X-STRONG UV REFLECTING forms an extremely hard and very durable coating in just a few moments as soon as you irradiate it with a UV lamp and thus cure it. The brush integrated in the cap makes it easy to apply the resin. If you want to make thicker applications, we recommend that you apply the UV resin X-STRONG UV REFLECTING in several layers and cure each layer separately.
Glues and varnishes are now present on the table of all fly tyiers. Their use is very varied: you can strengthen your artificial flies, fix some fly tying materials or you can use them to increase the visibility of your artificial flies through paints that react to UV rays.
For some time now, a special glue has arrived on the market that is able to dry almost instantly when subjected to ultraviolet rays of special flash light. This product has literally revolutionized the world of fly tying, becoming today a practically indispensable material, so much so that over time artificial flies have been born that have made this product a fundamental component as the famous perdigones.
