The TRAVEL SHUTTLE is one of the best-selling vises in the Cottarelli (CTA) line. The tripod has been designed to make transport extremely practical, in fact you can close it on itself with a simple gesture, thus taking up very little space. The tripod is made of solid brass and thanks to its weight gives the vise an excellent stability during fly tying. In the horizontal arm there are holes that can be used as a fly tying tool holder. The numerous joints of the TRAVEL SHUTTLE allow infinite possibilities of adjustment, it can be tilted at will and adjusted in height.
The Shuttle pliers is an exceptional invention. It is cut from a single block of steel by a process called electro-erosion, which does not heat the metal and does not ruin the hardening of the steel. One of the strengths of this clamps is that it allows you to place and replace the hook quickly and easily, you just need to open the pliers with light pressure, insert the hook and release. Screwing or unscrewing the bolt located on the brass register in the centre of the plier will give a more or less tenacious grip on the hook. When you tie artificial flies on particularly large hooks, it is good to increase the clamping force, while if you tie on medium-small hooks you can decrease it.
The plier can rotate freely 360 degrees and this rotation can be moderate through a clutch. On the sides there are 2 brass bushings that allow you to move the bobbin from the work area in those moments when we do not need to take it back then at a later time and continue with the fly tying.
To facilitate the rotation of the plier, the crank handle can be purchased separately.
All the vises produced by Franco Cottarelli are made of steel, brass and aluminium. They are extremely solid and robust products destined to last over time. Thanks to the modularity of the Cottarelli vises, it is possible to remove the Shuttle plier and mount the head support with long or short fork.
