Description

Of all fly tying vises  made by Stonfo, the TRANSFORMER is certainly the flagship product of the Italian company and was created to meet the needs of expert fly tiers who do not want to compromise.

The package contains:

  • In-line vise
  • Streamer vise
  • Tube-flies vise
  • Stonfo jaw 1 - medium and small hooks
  • Stonfo jaw 2 - large hooks
  • Various conical and cylindrical pins for tube-flies
  • Adjustable spring material clip
  • Bobbin support
  • Parachute plier support
  • TRR pedestal base
  • Allen keys

QUICK RELEASE:

The peculiarity that differentiates it from all other Stonfo's vises is the quick release (fig.1) that with a simple gesture, i.e. pulling it towards the rear (fig.2), allows you to replace the vise head with one of the 3 available (fig.3).

INTERCHANGEABLE VISES:

Inside the package you will find 3 interchangeable vises that allow you to face any type of dressing in the best way. Specifically you will find:

In-line: The in-line clamp (fig.4), thanks to its adjustable inclination, allows you to position the shank of the hook perfectly in line with the axis of rotation of the vise.  In this way you can rotate the hook shank perfectly on its axis. The in-line vise is equipped with the interchangeable Stonfo jaw 1, made of hardened steel and with super soft lever closure. This vise is suitable for medium and very small hooks. The in-line version is equipped with a adjustable spring material clip (fig.4-A) and a bobbin support (fig.4-B).

Streamer: The streamer vise (fig.5) is straight and it is not possible to tilt it, but thanks to its very small size it guarantees you maximum freedom of action when tying streamers and minnow. It is supplied with the interchangeable Stonfo jaw 2 that can accommodate any type of hook, especially large ones. The super soft lever closure allows you to have a very tenacious grip by applying very little force. Like all Stonfo vise, the streamer is also made of sturdy hardened steel.

Tube-flies: The tube-flies vise (fig.6) has 3 conical pins and 2 cylindrical pins of different diameters. For the various sizes of the pins are available the relative bushings (fig.6-C) which we remind you are screwed anticlockwise. The pins are fixed through the locking screw (fig.6-D) In the tube-flies vise there is a bobbin support (fig.6-E). In addition to tie tube-flies, this vise is very useful to tie extended body.

Note: It is possible to disassemble the Stonfo jaw 1 and mount it on the streamer vise and vice versa.

CLAMPING OF THE HOOK:

Often when dealing with vises that use a lever lock to clamp the jaws of the plier it is not always intuitive to find the right setting and sometimes it can even be annoying to fix the hook in the correct way. With Stonfo's super soft lever system, on the other hand, it is extremely simple and quick to fix the hook to the vise, ensuring you always have a very firm grip.

To clamp the hook you have to position the lever downwards in open mode and insert the hook into the jaw. Then you have to gently tighten the jaws of the plier by turning the pre-blocking screw clockwise without exaggerating, you just have to make sure that the hook remains stationary. Once locked in the desired position, simply move the lever upwards in closed mode to secure the hook permanently.

Attention: It is not necessary to apply excessive force to the lever when locking the hook, excessive force could damage the jaw. Also remember not to place the hook too much at the end of the tip of the jaw because you run the risk of chipping it (see photo).

360° ROTATION:

The 360° rotation of the vise is carried out by precision bearings and is therefore very smooth and precise. Through the drag knob (fig.8-F) you can moderate the rotation and lock it in the point you prefer. The rear crank (fig.8-G) serves to facilitate rotation.

As mentioned above, the in-line vise is equipped with a joint (fig.9-H) that allows you to adjust the inclination of the plier according to your needs. Thanks to this adjustment it will be very easy to position the shank of the hook perfectly in line with the axis of rotation of the vise in order to make it rotate on its axis.

PEDESTAL BASE:

The pedestal base is of large dimensions (16.2 x 19.2 x 4.2) which together with its weight (1.37kg) and the 4 anti-slip feet guarantee maximum stability during fly tying.

The 2 niches on the surface of the base allow you to house fly tying material such as hooks or tungsten beads. The rounded edges make it very easy to grip even the smallest materials (fig.10).

On the back of the pedestal base there are 10 holes inside which you can store tools such as scissors and bobbins to have everything you need always at hand while keeping a clean and tidy work station (fig.11). One of the rear holes is used as a housing for the magnifying glass. (can be purchased separately)

ACCESSORIES:

Through the special support (fig.12-I) is possible to mount the bracket (fig.12-L) in 2 different positions: vertical and horizontal. If mounted vertically it acts as a high support for the parachute plier (fig.12-M), while if mounted horizontally it acts as a support for the bobbin support (fig.13-N).
