Description

DANVISE DANICA FLY TYING VISE

LIGHT, ROBUST AND ECONOMIC

The DANVISE danica fly-tying vise is very robust, as solid steel is used at all critical points. The shaft, the adjusting screws and of course the jaws of this tying vise are therefore extremely stable.

The outer shell is made of injection-moulded plastic parts. This results in two very interesting advantages. A very low weight and a very attractive price.

The combination of the above-mentioned features makes the DANVISE danica fly-tying vise an inexpensive yet professional product, suitable for beginners as well as experienced fly tyers.

The DANVISE danica fly-tying vise is available in two different versions:

If you would like to buy the fly-tying vise with the c-clamp only, you still have the option to buy the pedestal base at a later date: Pedestal base for DANVISE danica fly-tying vise.

Replacing the table vice with the table base is quick and easy and in this video we show you how it's done:

TECHNICAL FEATURES

The technical features of the DANVISE danica are in no way inferior to the more prestigious and far more expensive fly-tying vises. Let's take a look at them one by one:

JAWS

The vise jaws are made of steel and hold the hook very firmly. Due to its shape, you can clamp hooks of all sizes without any problems. It doesn't matter if it's a very small hook for dry flies or a larger hook for tying big streamers.

Clamping the hook is quick and easy. You set the opening of the jaws with the adjusting screw on the side. With the lever below the jaws, the hook is firmly clamped between the jaws.

To avoid damaging the jaws, do not clamp the hook too tightly. The hook should sit well between the jaws. This way it is clamped securely and firmly. And the tip of the jaws will not be damaged.

The DANVISE danica fly tying vise has numerous adjustment possibilities. This makes tying your flies very comfortable and pleasant. As mentioned, all adjustment screws are made of steel and are therefore very durable.

360° ROTATION IN THE AXIS

The jaws can be rotated 360° and this rotation can be dampened by a variable resistance. The resistance can be adjusted by the ring nut on the rear crank.

Two other practical settings allow you to change the position of the jaws at will by raising or lowering them or moving them to the left or right.

These many adjustment possibilities allow you to align the shank of the hook perfectly with the rotation axis of the jaws. In this way, when the jaws rotate 360°, the hook rotates perfectly around the axis of the hook shank.

HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT

Height adjustment is also quick and easy. By loosening the ring nut on the shaft, you adjust the fly-tying vise to your individual height. The height is fixed by tightening the ring nut again.

ACCESSORIES

Both versions come with 3 accessories:

  • Support for bobbin holder
  • Spring material clip
  • Conversion part from right-hand to left-hand operation

SUPPORT FOR BOBBIN HOLDER

The support for the bobbin holder is very useful to put the bobbin holder down occasionally. The fly-tying thread remains nicely stretched, but out of the working area. For example, if you want to add a ribbing, or wrap a hackle around the hook shank, it is very convenient not to have the bobbin holder hanging under the fly. Using the bobbin holder support it doesn't get in the way and can be used again whenever you have finished winding and want to tie in ribbing wire or hackle.

The attachment of the support for the bobbin holder is very simple: the extension arm is simply put into the corresponding side arm. With the help of the two adjusting screws, you can then bring the support into the desired position.

SPRING MATERIAL CLIP

The spring material clip is simply pushed onto the clamping jaws. It is used to temporarily fix fly tying materials that have already been tied on the hook until they are used. This way they don't get in your way while tying.

For example, if you tie in the copper wire for the ribbing, you can clamp the wire in the spirals of the material spring. This way you can tie the body of your fly comfortably without being bothered by the already tied in wire. Once the body is tied, use the wire to form the ribbing.

CONVERSION PART FROM RIGHT-HANDED TO LEFT-HANDED OPERATION

With this part you can convert the fly-tying vise from right-handed to left-handed use. Simply loosen the screw marked in the photo below and replace the entire part. This way you bring the settings of the jaws to the opposite side of the fly-tying vise.
