With the TOURNAMENT MXC CARBON fly reel, Sandro Soldarini presents a technically high-quality, modern Super Large Arbor (SLA) fly reel that has an extremely wide range of applications thanks to its sophisticated and functional features.
The Super Large Arbor design with a large spool core counteracts the memory effect of fly lines and thus prevents annoying curling. In addition, a large spool core provides more line take-up per crank revolution, so you can maintain tension to the fish constantly when reeling it in.
The very open, modern shape of the TOURNAMENT MXC CARBON with many cut-outs and holes reduces material and therefore weight exactly where it is not needed. In order to make the spool and frame durable and torsion-resistant, carbon fibre inserts were placed on the aluminium frame of the reel. These carbon fibre elements on the frame provide additional strength at low weight. This makes this reel suitable for fishing situations where larger fish and heavier loads are to be expected, for example when fly fishing in stillwater or with the streamer.
With its light 128 grams, this fly reel on the other hand is also suitable for very fine applications, such as European nymphing, where a light, well-balanced tackle is fundamental for concentrated and fatigue-free guiding of the nymphs. Its closed reel cage also allows the use of very fine fly lines and extra-long monofilament leaders, as these cannot jump off the spool.
The excellent reel drag of the TOURNAMENT MXC CARBON is fully encapsulated and therefore waterproof. It can be finely and precisely adjusted via the large, easy-grip adjusting wheel, which is colour-coded and numbered. This means you can find the right brake setting quickly and easily, even while reeling in a fish. The high-quality carbon fibre discs generate enormous braking pressure so that you can confidently drill and land even an unexpectedly big fish. At the same time, the drag is silky smooth and prevents line breakage when using thin tippets.
The TOURNAMENT MXC CARBON also offers a considerable line capacity, so that this reel covers all possible uses from line class #3 up to line class #7 and thus most fishing situations in our latitudes, from fine dry fly fishing to modern nymphing techniques, light streamer presentation and stillwater fisheries to fly fishing on the coast.
Of course, the TOURNAMENT MXC CARBON can be quickly and easily switched from right-handed to left-handed operation. An interchangeable spool is available separately. This highly functional and extremely versatile fly reel is supplied in a matching neoprene bag.
