With the APOGEE fly reel, the manufacturer jmc has placed particular emphasis on very low weight and compact dimensions of the reel. Thus, the reel is made of high-strength aircraft grade aluminium, which makes it stable and light at the same time. In addition, generous recesses are milled into the spool and the open reel frame is kept airy, which saves superfluous material and thus additional weight. This filigree and minimalist reel design looks very elegant and modern, especially in combination with the matt black anodised surface of the fly reel.
The compact dimensions of this fly reel also have a weight-optimising effect. Due to the rather compact diameter of the spool arbor, the APOGEE still has a considerable line capacity. The smallest reel size for the line classes #3/5 holds a WF line of class #5 and additionally about 100m of backing, which is far more than sufficient for this line class. At the same time, the empty fly reel of this size weighs just 112 grams and thus remains surprisingly light.
Although the focus in the development of this fly reel was primarily on lightness and reduced dimensions, you don't have to do without a first-class reel drag with the APOGEE. The powerful drag runs very smoothly, can be adjusted precisely and thus perfectly complements the overall very high equipment and workmanship quality of this fly reel.
