The WPX 580 is a fly fishing reel made by Hotfly from die-cast aluminium with a very high casting quality, almost making it look as if it were machined on CNC machines. The final anodisation of the aluminium protects it from wear and corrosion, while the many cleverly designed holes in the aluminium reduce the final weight of the reel without weakening its structure.
The diameter of the spool is of the large arbor type, which considerably reduces the memory effect on the fly line, and its "V" design allows you to wind much more backing than with a normal spool.
Spare spools, also in aluminium, are available and can be purchased separately.
The drag with carbon discs is really reliable, powerful and precise. The release of the line is smooth, even when put under stress for long periods. The protective shell in which it is placed keeps it safe from sand and dirt. The central core, the blue part, has been machined on CNC machines. Seldom do you see drag of this quality on reels in this price range.
