The copper wire is mainly used to tie nymphs, having a certain weight it would be a contradiction to use it to tie dry flies although in the thinner sizes it can be used to tie floating flies.

The most common use is to wrap it on the body of your imitation leaving some space between one spiral and another, thus simulating the segments of the abdomen of the insect. In addition to this imitative purpose the copper wire has an additional advantage that is to strengthen the underlying material extending the life of your artificial flies.

Another interesting use that is made of this material is to use it to tie the whole body of your imitation such as the Copper John Nymphs, which is among the best selling nymphs in our shop to date.
